Volume Breakout
Enter trades when price breaks key support/resistance levels with above-average volume. Volume confirms the breakout is real and not a fake-out, improving win rates compared to price-only breakouts.

Core logic
Identify key price levels (horizontal support/resistance, trendlines, or range boundaries). Wait for price to break through with volume at least 1.5–2x the 20-period average. Enter in the breakout direction with a stop-loss just inside the broken level.
When markets transition from consolidation to trend. The volume confirmation filters out many false breakouts that trap traders.
In low-liquidity environments where volume spikes can be misleading (wash trading, single large order). Also fails when broader market reverses the breakout.
Key settings to configure
Breakout candle volume must be this multiple of 20-period average
Default: 1.5 · Min: 1.2 · Max: 3
How far back to identify support/resistance levels
Default: 50 · Min: 20 · Max: 200
Stop-loss distance below/above the breakout level
Default: 2 % · Min: 0.5 · Max: 5
4h and daily are most reliable for breakout confirmation
Default: 4h
What can go wrong
Failed breakout
Even with volume confirmation, some breakouts fail and reverse. The stop-loss limits damage but consecutive failures erode capital.
Wash trading volume
Some exchanges or tokens have artificial volume that does not represent real demand. Volume signals can be unreliable on low-cap tokens.
Gap risk
While crypto trades 24/7, sudden news can cause price to gap past your stop-loss, resulting in larger losses than planned.

Common questions
How do I identify key levels?
Look for prices where price has bounced or stalled multiple times (at least 2–3 touches). The more touches, the more significant the level. Horizontal levels are easier to identify than trendlines.
